Jumpsuits: Winter’s Easiest Staple

Posted by Makayla Chataway in Fashion Zone

Winter often poses both some of the biggest challenges and biggest opportunities to fashionistas. On the one hand, skirts and dresses seem risky at best. While tights can cover your legs, they do not do much to keep them warm. And if you are like me, tights rip and rip and rip, no matter how hard you try. However, whereas summer outfits are often one or two pieces, winter brings with it layers and layers of beautiful combinations. But there is a solution to balancing these pros and cons. There is a way to navigate the treacherous line between fashionable and practical, and it comes in the easiest, simplest style imaginable.

This winter, rather than yanking and shredding tights, try a jumpsuit. It’s an uncomplicated solution to winter woes, yet it goes overlooked every year. Most of us probably assume we cannot work a jumpsuit. They are unkind to hips and thighs, and impossible to get into. However, like any piece of clothing, testing and patience play a role in the purchase of a jumpsuit. The romper of winter, I have found that jumpsuits with accentuated waists and sleeves pull the eye best from usual trouble areas, like the examples below.

Jumpsuits are not only easy, but they are versatile as well. Once everyone has seen the jumpsuit, it does not have to hide in the back of the closet. It is not a single-wear item. With jumpsuits, creativity and layering are key. For special occasions, a nice jumpsuit can be worn with some simple jewelry. For another occasion, a sequined cardigan can change up the look. On more casual outings, never doubt the power of scarves and blazers to make a jumpsuit a new staple. So on those cold nights when all the girls are running from event to event, trying to stay warm, you can rock your practicality and fashion sense without the tights.
